A California man was arrested in Oklahoma after leading multiple agencies on a high speed pursuit earlier this month.

According to court records, 26-year-old Chevy Dean Stewart of Tustin, California received one felony charge of endangering others while attempting to elude police in Beckham Count District Court for his actions that took place on the morning of August 8.

A probable cause affidavit showed that the pursuit originated in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 in the Texas panhandle before crossing over into Oklahoma.

Beckham County Deputies along with Texas DPS and an officer with the Port of Entry gave chase until spike strips were deployed to disable the vehicle near mile marker 20.

The court document stated that speeds during the pursuit reached as high as 90 mph.

After the vehicle become disabled, authorities were able to arrest Stewart.

It was unclear as to why the suspect refused to pull over.
