An Elk City man accused of pointing a firearm at multiple people was arrested and charged earlier this month in Beckham County.

According to a probable cause affidavit, 38-year-old Johnie Lee Ditmore was arrested September 7 after the incident that occurred the night before in the 1100 block of Crestview Drive in Elk City. That’s when police said Ditmore pulled a gun on a couple men, and made threats claiming that he wanted to shoot people.

The affidavit said that Ditmore would retreat to his home once police arrived and refused to come out.

During the standoff, police would speak to a couple of neighbors in the area. They would say that Ditmore got into a confrontation with the two male neighbors over money. The affidavit stated that one of them punched Ditmore, who then would point a handgun at the duo.

Later Ditmore would be arrested the next morning after getting into his car.

He was later charged with plan, attempt, or conspire to perform an act of violence, and one count of attempted robbery with a weapon.

Initial bond for Ditmore was set at $100,000.
