Sayre, OK — Beckham County Sheriff Derek Manning says deputies are investigating an attempted break-in at a former marijuana grow site south of Sayre, where a resident still lives on the property.
Manning said the call came from someone staying in one of the buildings, reporting that three men in a vehicle tried to get into the residence. “It’s not technically abandoned, but it is an old grow house. It’s no longer in operation,” Manning said.
Manning left a meeting at the sheriff’s office and arrived first, with a detective pulling up moments later. The suspects were gone. The resident provided a vague description of the vehicle and three men, according to the sheriff.
Deputies backtracked the area to look for a match. They did not find the vehicle on the road, but in-car cameras from Manning and the detective captured a vehicle that appears to fit the description.
“We’ve got some leads to go on,” Manning said. “We’re still working on that, trying to locate and identify those people.”
No arrests had been made at press time. The investigation is ongoing.
