School Board Filings Wrap Up Across Western Oklahoma Counties

Western OK – School board filings closed Wednesday in Beckham, Custer, Washita and Roger Mills counties, confirming a mix of uncontested races and a few competitive seats heading into the February election cycle.

Custer County

Clinton will see incumbent David Mosburg return to Office No. 1 after filing unopposed. Arapaho-Butler will also keep its sitting member, with incumbent Rusty Roush filing unchallenged for Office No. 1.

Beckham County

All districts in Beckham County ended with uncontested seats. Elk City incumbent Kristen Waters will retain Office No. 1 without opposition. Erick’s Justin Miller, Merritt’s Justin Koch, and Sayre’s Bandy Silk also filed unopposed and will continue serving in Office No. 1 for their respective districts.

Washita County

Canute’s Office No. 1 drew two candidates: incumbent Carrie Shelton and challenger Darrell L. Price. Burns Flat Dill City will also see a race in Office No. 1 between incumbent Jimmy F. Piercey and Charles Roles.

Cordell’s Andy Davis filed without opposition and will keep Office No. 1.

Sentinel will have two contested seats. Office No. 1 features incumbent Amy Sanders against Riley Ridling. Office No. 4 has three candidates: Beau Moles and Aaron Spinhirne, with Sky Wilson terming out of the position.

Western Technology Center saw a single filing from Ray Challis.

Roger Mills County

Cheyenne’s Ethan Smith filed for Office No. 1 unopposed.

Hammon incumbent Travis Clay Ivey will return to Office No. 1 with no challenger.

Leedey’s Jason Paulsen will also retain Office No. 1 unopposed.

Reydon’s Office No. 1 drew two filings: Cory J. Hartley and Heather Shaw.

Sweetwater saw uncontested filings across both open seats. Incumbent Benji Burckhalter will keep Office No. 1, and Jessie Harrell will continue serving in the unexpired Office No. 3 term.
