Burns Flat, OK – Sayre residents will have the chance to help shape the future of transportation in southwest Oklahoma at an upcoming public meeting hosted by the Southwest Oklahoma Regional Transportation Planning Organization (SORTPO).
The meeting is set for Thursday, October 2, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Broadway Center, 210 N. Broadway Street in Sayre. Community members, leaders, and stakeholders are encouraged to attend and provide input on the Forward 45 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP), a 20-year roadmap for improving transportation across the region.
The Forward 45 RTP is designed to guide decisions through the year 2045, addressing roads, transit, biking, walking, and other modes of travel. Key priorities include enhancing safety, improving infrastructure, meeting mobility needs for residents of all ages, and supporting economic growth and quality of life across 16 counties.
“This is the public’s opportunity to learn about the planning process and share their local knowledge,” SORTPO officials said. “The input we receive will help build a community ‘wish list’ of projects to be considered in the final plan.”
Additional public meetings are scheduled throughout the region, including one in Burns Flat on Tuesday, October 14 at the SWODA Office, 420 Sooner Drive. All meetings run from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and are intended to cover a 30-mile radius around each location. Residents are welcome to attend any session.
For those unable to attend in person, comments and project suggestions may be submitted by email to info@forward45.com
