Burns Flat, OK – Residents across southwest Oklahoma are encouraged to take part in shaping the region’s future transportation system. The Southwest Oklahoma Regional Transportation Planning Organization (SORTPO) will host a public meeting in Burns Flat to gather input on the Forward 45 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP).
The meeting will be held Tuesday, October 14, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the SWODA Office, 420 Sooner Drive in Burns Flat.
The Forward 45 RTP is a 20-year strategic plan designed to guide transportation decisions across the 16 counties served by the Association of South-Central Oklahoma Governments (ASCOG) and the Southwestern Oklahoma Development Authority (SWODA). The plan addresses all modes of travel, including roads, public transit, biking, and walking, with an emphasis on safety, infrastructure improvements, mobility for all ages, and support for economic growth.
SORTPO leaders said the plan will set transportation priorities through 2045, aiming to create a safer, more efficient, and better-connected network throughout the region.
“These meetings are an opportunity for residents to learn about the process, share their local knowledge, and help identify projects that should be prioritized in the final plan,” officials said.
Public meetings are being held at multiple locations to serve a wide regional audience. All sessions run from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The schedule includes:
