Canute, OK – Canute Public Schools went into a precautionary lockdown Wednesday morning as law enforcement pursued a stolen vehicle in the area.
The lockdown was implemented just before 8:30 a.m. after officials were alerted to the high-speed chase in Washita County. School leaders emphasized that students were never in any danger.
The lockdown remained in place for several hours before being lifted around 11:45 a.m. Normal operations resumed shortly afterward.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect connected to the stolen car was located and arrested.
This is a developing story. More details will be released as they become available.
