An Elk City man was arrested last week after an investigation that involved the FBI lead to authorities believing that an assault of a child by the man was imminent.

During the arrest, police found multiple female juveniles in the home.

Details are limited, however in a press release provided by Elk City Police, detectives received a call on July 28 from the FBI concerning their investigation of an internet crime against children. Detectives were told that a male subject was online at the time, and the FBI had reason to believe that an assault of a child was imminent. The Elk City Police formed an entry team and made entry into the residence and detained the suspect (whose name has not been released) and secured the scene.

The FBI would arrive and take the suspect into custody.

The press release said detectives with the Elk City Police Department observed 5 juvenile females inside the residence with ages ranging from 6 to 14 years of age.

Police said due to the nature of the allegations from the FBI, Elk City PD pursued the investigation and additional information, and evidence was obtained.

On Wednesday a search warrant was served by Elk City Detectives at the residence and additional evidence was obtained and charges are expected to be filed in Beckham County District Court next week.

This is an ongoing investigation.
