Arapaho, OK – An Oklahoma City man has been charged in Custer County with a felony count of obtaining merchandise by bogus check, according to court records filed this month.

Frashon Allen Ford, 30, of Oklahoma City, is charged with one count of obtaining cash or merchandise by bogus check or false pretenses, a felony under Oklahoma law.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in the Custer County District Court, the charge stems from a purchase made on November 13, 2023, at a Weatherford business.

Court documents state Ford allegedly purchased merchandise using a check in the amount of $2,712. The check was later returned by the bank marked “Frozen/Blocked Account.” Prosecutors allege Ford knew at the time the check was written that there were insufficient funds and that the account was blocked.

The affidavit says the check was deposited within 30 days and returned unpaid. The Custer County District Attorney’s Office attempted to notify Ford of the bogus check complaint in June 2024 by mail, but the notice was returned as unable to forward. A second notice was mailed in August 2024 to a different address, but no response was received.

The District Attorney’s Office reports multiple attempts were made to contact Ford, but the amount owed was never paid.

Total restitution owed, including fees, is listed as $3,099.26.

If convicted, the charge is punishable by up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $5,000, or both.

A judge found probable cause on January 12, 2026, allowing the case to proceed. As with all criminal cases, the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
