Latest Sales Tax Numbers Up for Most Western OK Communities

The latest sales tax numbers have been released and two out of three of western Oklahoma’s largest communities is again over the $1 million mark.

However, unlike last month, the I-40 trio are up in collections when compared to last year.

According to the Oklahoma Tax Commission, the month of August was good for the City of Elk City by bringing in $1,272,828.26 a 2.6% increase. The City of Weatherford too was over the $1 million mark by collecting $1,185,061.68, up 8.5% when compared to last year, and the City of Clinton saw a 2.3% increase by bringing in $543,666.92.

By comparison, the City of Altus was up 1.4% with an intake of $1,168,023.96 of sales tax dollars and Woodward saw an increase by bringing in $1,141,803.12 – a 5.4% increase.

Smaller communities in the area had Mangum up a whopping 33% ($70,579.13), Cordell down 12% ($94,407.23), and Sayre slightly down 0.2% ($160,776.07).
