Latest Sales Tax Numbers Show Increase For Most Area Municipalities

Sales tax numbers are in for the month of May and it appears western Oklahoma’s larger cities saw an increase in collections when compared to May 2022.

According to the report from the Oklahoma Tax Commission, the trio cities of Elk City, Clinton and Weatherford all saw increases with two out of three collecting over $1 million once again.

Elk City saw a 4% increase by bringing in $1,237,534.14. Weatherford was up 11% by collecting $1,173,964.45, and Clinton was up 15% after collecting $595,362.94 in the month of May.

Sayre, also on I-40, saw a 9.7% increase by collecting $175,711.11. Of similar size, Cordell was down 7.3% when compared to last year by collecting $98,655.35.

Other cities of interest saw Altus up 1.4% ($1,114,901.47), Woodward up 4.6% ($1,150,241.99), and El Reno down 20% ($1,035,679.30).
