The latest sales tax numbers are in and the larger cities in Western Oklahoma saw gains when compared to last year.

According to the Oklahoma Tax Commission’s report that reflect intake from the month of March, the Cities of Elk City, Clinton and Weatherford all saw numbers increased with Elk City and Weatherford over the $1 million mark. Elk City took in just over $1.1 million, a 3.3% increase while Weatherford brought in a little over $1,021,000 – a 6.8% increase.

Clinton was up 13.5% by bringing in over $578,000.

By comparison, Altus brought in just over $1.1 million, and Woodward brought in just over $1,059,000 – both increases when compared to 2022.

Sayre, was also up by bringing in just over $167,000, a 4.9% increase.

In his monthly economic report, Oklahoma State Treasure Todd Russ R-Cordell said “Gross Receipts to the state Treasury paint a picture of a sound but moderating Oklahoma economy as total collections climb to a new high. The 12-month record total of $17.64 billion is $1.77 billion or 11.2 percent more than prior year. However, when reviewing the monthly comparison, the difference between March and last March of $16.6 million or 1.2 percent is the lowest level of growth seen since June 2022.”
