Detroit, MI – Elk City Police Department officers Lt. Brad George and Captain Sammy Weygand played a key role in securing justice in a Michigan homicide case last week.
The two officers traveled to Detroit, Michigan, at the request of the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, which coordinated and funded their trip. Their testimony was considered critical in the trial of Enajee Moore. On August 21, 2025, a jury found Moore guilty of reckless driving resulting in death, first-degree fleeing a police officer, and involuntary manslaughter. The verdict delivered long-awaited justice to the victim’s family.
The case had a direct connection to Elk City. On March 18, 2022, Moore was a kidnapping suspect out of Conway, Arkansas, when he attempted to flee authorities. His efforts ended in Elk City after multiple pursuits involving several law enforcement agencies. He was arrested by Elk City Police and later convicted in Beckham County for using an offensive weapon in the commission of a felony and eluding a police officer.
Elk City PD expressed pride in the professionalism of their officers and emphasized the importance of working with agencies across the country to ensure justice is served.
