Inflation across the country has seen prices on everything from vehicles to groceries increase.

The same can be said about building materials such as lumber and steel.

So how does this affect the construction of Elk City’s Indoor Activity Center? City Manager Tom Ivester acknowledges that it has slowed the process down, however the price for the material will remain the same. Ivester says the $12.4 million building, which is being funded by the CAPPs initiative, will remain the same price due to the fact that the city is locked into the prices that were presented to city leaders last summer.

Ivester says not only has inflation slowed the project down, so has the weather.

Ivester says the project should be completed by next summer.
