A suspect wanted in a high speed pursuit that originated in Weatherford on Christmas Eve has been arrested and charged in Custer County.

According to court records 23-year-old Malik JaJuan Ransburg of Oklahoma City was formally charged on January 23rd in Custer County District Court, however Ransburg was arrested a week later in Oklahoma City on an unrelated complaint.

According to the Weatherford Police Department, officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Indiana and Main for a minor traffic violation early Christmas Eve morning. The vehicle, which was later determined to be stolen from Oklahoma City, pulled over with the driver, Ransburg, initially being compliant but then drove away as officers attempted to talk to him. A pursuit ensued through city streets then east bound on Interstate 40. Officers with the Hinton Police Department deployed stop sticks at the 101 mile marker, which deflated both driver side tires. The vehicle eventually came to a stop in the center median around the 103 mile marker.

According to the report, Ransburg and the passenger, 28-year-old Brittany Kaye Wolf of Wewoka both ran on foot from the vehicle and with the help of the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office, Weatherford police were able to arrest Wolf, however Ransburg was able to get away.

After searching the vehicle, officers found a stolen rifle and a stolen pistol.

Wolf was charged in Custer County District court back in December with obstructing an officer, escape from arrest or detention, and knowingly receiving stolen property – a misdemeanor. She is next due in court on February 11th.

According to court records, Ransburg does not have a court date set yet in Custer County, however it is expected one will be scheduled as soon as he answers for his crimes in Oklahoma County.
