Former Weatherford Man Perishes In Iowa Plane Crash

The name of the pilot who died after being involved in a plane crash in western Iowa on Saturday has been released.

According to reports, 45-year-old Brady Penner formally of Weatherford died Saturday following the accident near Ute, Iowa after witnesses say his crop duster hit a high wire.

According to a Monona County Sheriff’s news release posted on social media, the 911 center received a call about an aircraft down at around 1 p.m. Saturday.

The 911 caller indicated the plane had struck a power line and crashed in the roadway. Responding agencies found the plane in the roadway on fire.

The sheriff’s office said the pilot succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The NTSB and FAA have not released the exact cause of the crash. An investigation with both agencies is ongoing.

Funeral services for Penner are scheduled for Friday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Weatherford.
