An Elk City man with prior felony convictions was arrested and charged recently after violating a protective order.

According to court records, 33-year-old Michael Glen Mitchell, who was arrested and charged in February with, among other things, assault and battery with intent to kill and kidnapping after attacking his girlfriend and not letting her leave her Elk City home.

Mitchell was out on bail, awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled to take place in July.

The probable cause affidavit said that Mitchell was arrested on May 28 at the victim’s residence, after authorities were requested to investigate the suspect violating the protective order. While speaking with a detective, Mitchell allegedly confessed to driving the woman’s car so neighbors would not see his truck at her residence.

While speaking with the woman, she to would reveal to detectives that she had been in contact with Mitchell, had a meal together the day prior, and that he had stayed the night at her home.

While serving a search warrant at the home, police would find two firearms in the master bedroom, mail addressed to Mitchell, and a pizza box with the suspect’s phone number on it.

Mitchell would deny that the firearms were his.

Mitchell was formally charged this week with possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction and protective order violation.

Bond was set at $25,000.
