Fatal Crash Reported South of Foss

Foss, OK – A fatal two-vehicle collision occurred early Thursday morning, March 5, on State Highway 44 in Washita County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at approximately 4:14 a.m. at the intersection of SH-44 and East 1095 Road, about 1.8 miles south of Foss.

Investigators reported that a northbound vehicle driven by 27-year-old Bailey A. Miller of Apache crossed left of center on the highway and struck a southbound commercial motor vehicle.

The commercial vehicle, driven by 61-year-old Douglas S. Maxwell of Enid, was struck by Miller’s vehicle and caught fire following the collision.

Miller sustained injuries and was pronounced deceased. Authorities reported that seatbelts were not in use in Miller’s vehicle.

Maxwell was injured in the crash but survived. Officials said the driver of the commercial vehicle was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

No passengers were reported in either vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Next of kin have been notified.
