An Elk City man was formally charged last week in Beckham County District Court after an investigation into the suspect possibly selling illegal drugs led to the discovery of alleged child pornography on his phone.

The man is also accused of raping a teenager.

According to a probable cause affidavit, 21-year-old Michael Marion Myers was arrested last month after the Elk City Police Criminal Investigations Division were shown messages by a third party that Myers and a male juvenile were in discussions regarding the distribution of illegal narcotics. A week later police executed a search warrant at Myers’ home where they would allegedly find marijuana and methamphetamine along with small baggies, scales, firearms and cash.

A detective would obtain a search warrant on the suspect’s phone as well. On the phone they would find pictures of cocaine, meth, marijuana and other drugs in the form of pills. One video even showed Myers allegedly weighing meth on a scale.

Also on the phone, investigators would find nude photos of a 14-year-old female, a 15-year-old female, and a female who appeared to be under 10 years of age.

The affidavit would state that messages were allegedly found on the phone that showed that he sent lewd photos of himself to one of the under age victims, and that he had also sent pictures of his victims to other subjects.

Investigators would interview a 16-year-old female victim where she would disclose that Myers and her had sexual relations on multiple occasions inside city limits.

Myers was charged with, among other things, two counts of second degree rape, two counts of possession of juvenile pornography, one count of distribution of obscene material or child pornography, one count of lewd or indecent acts to a child under the age of 16, soliciting sexual conduct or communication with a minor by use of technology, and one count of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance.

Bond for Myers was set at $400,000.
