Elk City, OK – A man living in Elk City is facing a felony drug trafficking charge after a controlled purchase at his home led to the discovery of pills containing a fentanyl precursor and methamphetamine, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Beckham County District Court.
The affidavit states that a District II Drug Task Force Investigator, who is also a Task Force Officer with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, opened the case after receiving information from a confidential informant that 55-year-old Bill Brown was selling fentanyl-laced pills out of his residence.
On May 27, 2025, the investigator used the informant to conduct a controlled purchase at that location. Surveillance units took positions around the home while the investigator parked in the alley where he could see the front door. The informant entered the house and purchased pills from Brown for 400 dollars, according to the affidavit. The informant then returned to the investigator’s undercover vehicle and handed over the suspected fentanyl-laced tablets.
The pills were later packaged and submitted to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Forensic Science Center for testing. Lab results received on August 25 showed multiple blue tablets marked “M/30” contained 4-ANPP, a Schedule I precursor to fentanyl, and several tablets also contained methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance. The combined tested net weight was 1.5178 grams.
The affidavit notes that the trafficking charge is based on the presence of fentanyl and its analogs or derivatives in an amount of one gram or more, as outlined in 63 O.S. 2-415.
A Beckham County District Court judge reviewed the affidavit and issued a felony arrest warrant for Brown, setting his bond at $50,000. The affidavit and warrant were filed December 2 and December 3, 2025.
Brown is charged with Trafficking in Illegal Drugs for the May 27 transaction. A court date had not yet been listed at the time of filing.
