An Elk City man was arrested and charged last week after one of his social media accounts was allegedly found to be containing child pornography.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Elk City Police Department, a detective received a cybertip report on January 6 from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force regarding a social media account held by 26-year-old Trevor Anthony Schortemeier.

The affidavit stated that upon reviewing the report, 14 files were discovered to be uploaded from the social media site between December 2 and December 3.

The files were allegedly shared with another user or group of users.

After obtaining a search warrant, authorities were able to determine the geolocation of the device used as coming from a home in the 500 block of Wainwright Circle in Elk City. The report also stated that when the social media site returned the users contents, it included the original videos and images reported by the Internet Crime Against Children cybertip.

Additional photos returned were of the defendant.

During an interview with Schortemeier, he admitted to joining a group on the social media site for exchange of adult pornography, but stated that instead he was sent child porn. He would tell authorities that he continued to view the content sent to him for four to five months before deleting the images last month.

Bond for Schortemeier was set at $50,000.

A court date is pending.
