During the latest Elk City Commissioners meeting, the commission received it’s monthly financial report for the month of January. Meredith Meacham Wilson with R.S. Meacham CPAs told the commission that use tax collections had a strong month seeing just over $20,000 collected for the city.
City Treasurer Lisa Church reported that the city is down 11% in sales tax collections when compared to last year. However cigarette tax saw a 28% boost, while use tax saw a 31% hike when compared to last year. Church noted that most of the use tax numbers came from online holiday shopping.
