Elk City Education Foundation Awards Grants

The Elk City Education Foundation again awarded a large amount of grants this year to the school district during a ceremony held earlier this week.

The foundation awarded $65,000 worth of grants to be used in the schools that include, among other things, 90 Chromebooks for the high school, 30 Chromebooks for the 6th grade, 30 Chromebooks for the middle school, 35 iPads for the 2nd grade, 30 iPads for the 3rd grade, and 21 iPads for Pre-K.

The Elk City Education Foundation, which was founded in 1989, is funded by various businesses and organizations throughout the city.

In other school news: building teachers of the year for the district were recently announced. Kim Simpson was named teacher of the year at the elementary Pre-K through 1st site, Leslie Kennedy at the elementary 2nd through 3rd grade, Charlotte Fuller at the Intermediate School, Cheyenne Chapel at the Middle School, and Holli Manning at the High School.

Elk City’s teacher of the year will be announced in April.
