
Elk City, OK — A man wanted on serious criminal charges in Beckham County has been apprehended in Texas, according to an official statement from the Elk City Police Department.
Carlos Alberto Alegria was identified as the primary suspect in a rape investigation initiated by Elk City police on February 24, 2025. Detectives tracked Alegria to Oklahoma City and attempted to arrest him on March 11. However, he fled the scene and evaded capture.
A warrant for his arrest was issued the next day in Beckham County District Court, charging him with First Degree Rape by Instrumentation and Kidnapping.
Due to the severity of the charges, Elk City PD enlisted the help of the United States Marshals Service on March 12. Working with the department and the District II Attorney’s Investigator, the Marshals located Alegria in Texas and successfully took him into custody.
Alegria is currently being held on a $250,000 bond. A court date is pending.
