The Elk City Fire Department has announced that they are currently accepting applications for volunteer firefighters.

Fire Chief Kyle Chervenka says the department is looking to fill four vacancies.

Chervenka said that applicants must be 18-years-old or older and must reside in the Elk City Fire Department’s primary fire district. However, he did say that with parents permission, interested high school kids can attend the academy and once they turn 18, may have an opportunity of joining the department.
