A Durham man died Friday afternoon after being involved in a one vehicle accident in Roger Mills County.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred at approximately 2:16 p.m. Friday on a county road 5 miles northwest of Durham when Troopers say 74-year-old Monte M. Montgomery attempted to make a left turn onto a county road while driving a 2008 Toyota Tacoma. Troopers say the vehicle would then leave the roadway for an unknown reason, strike a barbed wire fence and a tree.

Authorities say Montgomery was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

OHP says both the condition of the driver, and the cause of the collision remain under investigation.

It was indicated in the report that the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the mishap.

In a separate accident over the weekend, a 16-year-old boy died in a single-vehicle crash on Sunday in Caddo County near Hinton.

The collision report provided by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the crash occurred around 5:45 p.m. Sunday on private property about a mile north of Hinton. The driver was not hurt, but a 16-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol did not release the victim’s name because of his age.

Authorities are working to determine what happened in that crash as well.
