Putnam, OK — A 78-year-old Lawton man died Thursday after a rollover crash on Highway 183 about 4 miles north of Putnam, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the southbound vehicle left the right side of the roadway near County Road 760 at about 2:47 p.m. The vehicle traveled roughly 212 feet through grass and hit a culvert about a quarter-mile north of the intersection. After striking the culvert, the vehicle went airborne, rotated about one and a half times, then hit the ground on its front hood and driver-side roof. It rotated again, struck the rear bumper area, and came to rest on its wheels.

OHP reported the driver was wearing a seat belt and was the only occupant. Next of kin has been notified.

The crash remains under investigation, and preliminary details are subject to change.

The full name of the driver was not released.
