Custer County is still recovering from Wednesday morning’s severe weather that tore through the area.

The storm brought straight line winds that damaged buildings, trees, and power lines, hail, and a massive amount of rain.

Custer County Emergency Management Director Mike Galloway told Paragon Communications that it is still to early to have a declaration of emergency issued, but says it’s still possible – which would mean the county would receive state and possible federal dollars to aid with repairs.

Galloway added that Gov. Kevin Stitt has the power to make a declaration which would provide funds for the county immediately.

Wednesday’s storm created problems throughout the county with reports of flooded homes and cars in Clinton, a dam breaking near Arapaho which resulted in the wash out of a county road, and a county road being washed out south of Weatherford.

A medical clinic on the corner of 10th and Avant in Clinton had its roof blown off during the storm as well.
