Multiple fire departments in the area responded to 9 wildfires late Monday afternoon near the intersection of OK-6 and OK-152, south of Elk City.

Elk City Fire Chief Kyle Chervenka says it is suspected that a truck pulling a chain had sparked the fires, however the cause is still under investigation.

Chervenka says crews were on the scene throughout most of the night, containing the blaze.

Chervenka says currently crews were out Tuesday morning mapping the blaze, and says 300 acres were burned.

He said no structures were damaged, and there were no reported injuries.
