Like other counties in the area, Custer and Washita County Commissioners have declared State of Emergencies for their respective counties in response to the coronavirus.

In a public notice issued by Washita County officials, the declaration states that commissioners approved to restrict public access to county properties including the Washita County Courthouse, the offices of district #1, #2, and #3, and restrict public access to the activity center until further notice.

The notice did say that county employees will still report to work, and that any office business which may be conducted by phone, email, fax, or mail is strongly recommended. If one needs to come to the courthouse in person, they must call the office which they are needing and to make an appointment. When the person arrives for the appointment, they must check in with the emergency manager at the north entrance of the building.

In Custer County, commissioners passed a similar State of Emergency declaration.

The declaration is also restricting public access to the Custer County Courthouse until further notice. Officials say for court related business check with security at the door, and for anyone wishing to drop off a payment, they can do so at drop boxes located at each public entrance. All offices will be staffed for phone calls and emails.
