A Clinton man was arrested recently after allegedly threatening to kill a woman with a knife.

According to a probable cause affidavit, 33-year-old Ryan Alexander Redbird was arrested by Clinton police on January 19 and would later receive one felony charge of assault with a dangerous weapon after a female victim would tell police that the defendant had allegedly entered into a bedroom while holding a knife and stated that he was going to kill the woman.

The affidavit said that when police arrived to the home located in the 400 block of South 19th in response to an altercation with a knife, the officer would find Redbird who he described as being belligerent and would not listen to commands. Redbird was eventually detained in the officer’s patrol vehicle while he spoke with other witnesses.

One witness would tell the officer that the incident started as a verbal altercation, which escalated to the point where Redbird allegedly pulled the knife on the woman. That witness said he was able to take the knife from Redbird.

Another witness would tell the officer that she had gone to the home to remove the defendant, and upon arrival saw him go into the bedroom and retrieve the knife.

The victim stated that although Redbird never physically harmed her, she felt threatened by him with the knife and feared that she would be hurt by him.

Redbird was ultimately arrested and transported to the Custer County Jail.

His first court date has been scheduled for February 11.
