Earlier this month, a Clinton man was arrested on assault and battery charges involving a household member. According to a probable cause affidavit, Clinton police responded to several disconnected 911 calls on Oct. 8. The 911 operator reported hearing an argument between a man and a woman before the calls ended. Officers arrived at a Clinton residence and spoke with a woman at the scene.
The woman said she had come to the house to pack her belongings and leave when 45-year-old Roger Dale Lively Jr. arrived. She explained they had been sharing the home, but she was in the process of moving out. She alleged that Lively began yelling and kicked her from behind while wearing boots. When she threw a drink in his face, he reportedly struck her on the back of the head with a propane canister, knocking out her hearing aids.
Lively had left the scene by the time officers arrived. Police noted visible injuries on the woman, including a contusion on the left side of her head, bruises on the back of her left thigh, and a mark on her right shoulder resembling a cigarette burn. Booking records show Lively also faces drug-related charges. His next court date is set for November 15.
