Canute Voters Approve Both School Bond Propositions

Canute, OK – Voters in the Canute Public Schools Independent School District have passed both bond propositions aimed at improving facilities and resources for local students.

Proposition No. 1 passed with 71.51% approval. The measure received 133 votes in favor (3 absentee, 0 early voting, 130 election day) and 53 votes against, with all four precincts reporting. This proposition will fund upgrades to the Ag Barn used by the FFA, install new playground turf, and purchase two Suburban-style enclosed utility vehicles.

Proposition No. 2 was also approved, earning 69.84% support. The tally showed 132 votes for (3 absentee, 1 early voting, 128 election day) and 57 votes against. This measure will provide two new activity buses and one mini-bus for the district.

Both measures were part of a bond election designed to enhance student facilities, safety, and transportation.

The election saw a combined turnout of just under 190 voters for each proposition. Officials have noted that the projects will be completed without raising local tax rates.
