Canute, OK — A Canute man is facing multiple felony charges following a two-day manhunt that involved several law enforcement agencies.
Jesse Lynn Davis, 42, of Canute, was booked into the Beckham County Jail at 8:16 p.m. on Saturday, May 31. Davis is facing the following charges:

Two counts of Endangering Others While Eluding a Police Officer

Two counts of Escape from Arrest or Detention for Felony

Two counts of Eluding a Police Officer

Receiving, Possessing or Concealing Stolen Property
-
Carrying Weapons, Drugs, or Alcohol into Jail
According to Beckham County Sheriff Derek Manning, the incident began Friday night, May 30, when the Washita County Sheriff’s Office requested backup — including a K-9 unit — for a suspect who had reportedly made threats to a local businessman and was believed to be armed.
“He took off in a vehicle, a Washita deputy got behind him, and he eventually crashed in Canute and fled on foot,” Manning said. Deputies from both counties, along with assistance from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, searched the area for hours that night without locating the suspect.
On Saturday evening, Washita County deputies used a drone to spot a man near his residence in Canute. Beckham County again sent deputies and a K-9 unit. Authorities surrounded the residence and were able to get everyone out safely. Davis was taken into custody without further incident. The other individuals at the scene were released.
Sheriff Manning said Davis continued making threats even as deputies were removing him from the home.
Davis remains in custody as the investigation continues.
