A blowout is to blame for a one vehicle accident near Hydro over the weekend.

As a result, a Muskogee woman was hospitalized with serious injuries.

According to the accident report provided by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the mishap occurred on Saturday just before 3p.m. one mile southwest of Hydro when the rear passenger tire blew out on the 2004 GMC Envoy that was being driven by 23-year-old Taylor Lynn Erwin on Route 66.

OHP said the blowout caused Erwin to lose control of the car, cross the center line and depart the road to the north in a broad slide. The car would then overturn an unknown number of times before coming to rest on the passenger side.

Erwin was flown to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where she was admitted in serious condition with a leg injury.

A passenger in the vehicle, 48-year-old Lyman Ray Weasel Bear of Ada, was uninjured in the crash.
