After choosing to go to virtual learning this past week due to an uptick of positive Covid cases – the Burns Flat / Dill City School District will return to in person instruction on Monday.

However masks will be required.

Stated in a letter from Superintendent Larry Johnson, masks are required to be worn by all BFDC students, employees, parents/legal guardians, and visitors while on school property, in school vehicles, and at indoor school-sponsored events regardless of vaccination status. It went on to say that masks may be removed only when alone in an enclosed private work space or while participating in activities in which a face mask cannot practically be worn, such as while eating and drinking. The letter stated that if a mask is removed, a physical distance of at least six feet be observed, whenever possible. If a parent or legal guardian indicates that compliance with mask use is not possible due to medical, religious, or strong personal reasons, exemption requests must be submitted in writing on an exemption form. The letter also said that students who wear face coverings and are confirmed to be a close contact to someone with Covid will not have to quarantine. However, students who do not wear face coverings and are confirmed to be a close contact to someone with Covid will have to quarantine for 10 days.

Johnson did say in the letter that the policy is subject to change, and that masks will be provided while available.
