Elk City, OK – Quinn Brewer just graduated as one of the most successful players in Elk City High School Tennis history.
A regional champion, state champion, and winner of 87.5% of his four-year-career matches, Brewer added one final accolade: He was recently named to the 2026 Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State West Boys Tennis Team.
He began playing when he was 11 and wasn’t surprised when he had success as a high-school freshman. “After every tournament win, my confidence grew,” Brewer said. “After being undefeated after my first two varsity regular seasons, I realized that probably not many players had done that.”
Brewer ended his 4A high-school career with a record of 105-15. Most of those losses came in State Semifinal, 3rd-place, or Championship matches, or to 5A opponents.
No mean feat in a sport frequently dominated in classes 4A and 5A by Oklahoma City and Tulsa private schools with considerable advantages over their public-school counterparts, including the ability to recruit talented players who specialize in tennis, hire coaches who specialize in tennis, and provide access to indoor facilities that allow for year-round training.
In four years of varsity tennis, Brewer only lost two regular-season matches against 4A opponents—one as a junior and the other as a senior. Both opponents played for private schools.
He got his revenge against the first of those players when he beat him in last year’s State Semifinal. Coincidentally, the other regular-season loss came this year to the player who beat Brewer in last year’s State Championship match.
Brewer qualified for the State Tournament all four years of high school, and he managed a top-5 podium finish each year.
As a freshman, he and Syvan Syribouth finished 4th at the State Tournament in 2 Doubles.
As a sophomore, Brewer and Kyler Welch finished 3rd in 1 Doubles.
He completed his junior season last year as State Runner-Up in 1 Singles.
That finish helped the Elk City High School Boys Tennis Team win the 2025 4A State Championship, the first team title in program history. That team was also named Academic State Champion.
As a senior, Brewer overcame end-of-season injuries to finish 5th in 1 Singles. He was the only public-school player on the podium.
Asked if he would have preferred an individual State Championship over a team State Championship, he chose his team over himself. He also showed an appreciation for the magnitude of what the ECHS tennis boys did in 2025.
“Doing something that had never been done before at Elk City was special,” Brewer said of the team title. “But on a deeper level, sharing the accomplishment with people who helped me become the player and person I am today made it even more special.”
This year’s All-State Tennis matches will be played Tuesday, July 28 at Edmond Center Court, 601 W. 15th Street in Edmond.
