Elk City, OK – Elk City will honor three distinguished community leaders tonight during the Elk City High School basketball doubleheader, with the Leadership Hall of Fame induction ceremony taking place between the girls and boys games.
The 2025 inductees are Sadiaa Jones, Roger Shockey, and Dan Storm DDS. Each honoree has deep roots in Elk City and a long record of leadership, service, and achievement.
Sadiaa Jones is an Elk City native and a 1995 graduate of Elk City High School. As a senior, she was a key member of the Elkettes 1995 Class 3A State Championship basketball team during the school’s first year of 5 on 5 play. She was also a standout track athlete, winning a state title in the 100 meter hurdles and setting a school record that still stands. Jones went on to compete collegiately and earn advanced degrees in education and health. In July 2025, she was named Oklahoma City University Athletics Director after holding leadership roles at Dallas College, Seminole State College, and Northwestern Oklahoma State University. She comes from a family with a strong Elk City legacy, including her mother Minnie Dickerson Wharry and her late father Wayne Jones, both ECHS graduates.
Roger Shockey was born in Elk City and graduated from Elk City High School in 1979. A four year letterman, he was active in athletics, music, drama, and academics. After earning degrees from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Shockey began a 36 year teaching career at Elk City High School, where he taught biology and chemistry until his retirement in 2019. He was recognized multiple times as High School Teacher of the Year and District Teacher of the Year. Beyond education, Shockey has been deeply involved in church leadership, ranching, and community service, continuing a family ranching tradition that dates back to 1905.
Dan Storm DDS, born and raised in Elk City, graduated from Elk City High School in 1968. He was active in band, student council, FFA, theater, and scouting, earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Storm earned degrees from Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry, later practicing dentistry in Elk City for 47 years. He has served in numerous leadership roles, including the Oklahoma Board of Dentistry, Kiwanis, the Elk City Summer Youth Recreation Board, and the Elk City Museum Complex. Storm and his wife Susan have also been longtime supporters of church and youth programs in the community.
The Elk City Leadership Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have made lasting contributions to the community through leadership, service, and excellence. Tonight’s ceremony will celebrate three inductees whose impact spans education, athletics, healthcare, and civic life, all rooted in Elk City.
