Regional University System of Oklahoma Board of Regents Announces Resignation of SWOSU President Dr. Diana Lovell

Weatherford, OK – The Regional University System of Oklahoma (RUSO) Board of Regents today announced that Dr. Diana Lovell has submitted her resignation as President of Southwestern Oklahoma State University, effective December 31, 2025.

RUSO and SWOSU recognize Dr. Lovell’s service to the university, which notably included securing $15 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding appropriated by the Oklahoma Legislature for the new pharmacy building, received approval for the new Doctor in Community Health (DCH) program, achieved major growth in concurrent enrollment, achieved growth in overall enrollment, and oversaw the expansion of strategic partnerships that have enhanced the university’s reach and impact across Oklahoma.

RUSO Chair Jane McDermott expressed gratitude for Dr. Lovell’s leadership during a period of significant progress for the university.

Dr. Lovell’s commitment to advancing SWOSU has been evident in the achievements realized under her leadership,” McDermott said. “Her efforts to expand academic opportunities, grow enrollment, and secure resources have strengthened the university’s mission and positioned SWOSU for continued success. We thank Dr. Lovell for her service and wish her the best in her future endeavors.”

RUSO will announce next steps regarding interim leadership in the coming weeks. SWOSU will continue normal operations and remain focused on supporting students.
