Oklahoma City, OK – The Oklahoma Transportation Commission’s Monday, Dec. 8 meeting opened with statewide recognition for a major western Oklahoma project, as the Oklahoma Department of Transportation’s District 5 received one of the industry’s highest honors for bridge construction.

The Association of Oklahoma General Contractors presented the 2025 Pharaoh Award to ODOT District 5 for its nearly $19 million bridge reconstruction project at Interstate 40 and Airport Road in Weatherford. The award is shared with Frontier Bridge, the project’s construction partner.

The Pharaoh Award recognizes the highest quality bridge structure built in Oklahoma during the past year. Presented by AOGC, the honor pays tribute to the Pharaoh family of Henryetta, widely regarded as pioneers in Oklahoma’s bridge construction industry.

The Weatherford project involved a full reconstruction of the I-40 and Airport Road bridge, improving structural integrity, safety, and long-term durability along one of western Oklahoma’s busiest transportation corridors. Industry leaders cited craftsmanship, design execution, and construction excellence as key factors in the award decision.
