Wheeler Man Hurt After Rear-End Crash On I 40 In Custer County

Custer County, OK – A Wheeler, Texas man was injured Saturday afternoon in a two vehicle collision on Interstate 40 in Custer County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Troopers reported the crash at 3:49 p.m. on Sunday, November 23, 2025, in the westbound lanes of I 40 near the 72 mile marker in Troop H.

According to the report, a westbound vehicle driven by Levi R. Shaw, 20, of Wheeler, Texas, struck the rear of a westbound commercial motor vehicle driven by Cosmin F. Serbu, 48, of Phoenix, Arizona. After the impact, Shaw’s vehicle caught fire.

Shaw was injured in the collision. Serbu was not injured.

Both drivers were alone in their vehicles, and seat belts were in use, OHP noted.

Troopers stated that the information in the report is preliminary and may be subject to change as the investigation continues.
