Caddo County, OK – A school bus carrying the Minco High School fast pitch softball team overturned Monday night after colliding with a deer along State Highway 152, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Troopers say the crash happened at 7:56 p.m. on SH-152 near County Street 2760 in Caddo County. The bus, driven by 38-year-old Cody A. Schmidt of Tuttle, was headed eastbound when it struck a deer in the roadway. The impact caused the bus to veer off the left side of the highway and overturn one complete time.

Schmidt, who was injured in the crash, was not wearing a seatbelt, OHP reported. There were 17 passengers on board, all members of the Minco High School softball team. Six students sustained injuries. No fatalities were reported.

Next of kin have been notified, and the investigation is ongoing. OHP noted that details released are preliminary and subject to change as the investigation continues.
