Durham, OK — The Roger Mills County Sheriff’s Office has canceled the Silver Alert for 89-year-old Donnie York after he was found alive Thursday morning.
According to Sheriff Darren Atha, at approximately 8:41 AM, a private volunteer aircraft spotted Mr. York northwest of the Antelope Hills. His vehicle, a white 2011 Ford F-350 single cab pickup with a black feed box, had become disabled and stuck in a remote area with no cell phone service.
Mr. York was alive and alert when located and was immediately transported to the hospital for medical evaluation.
The Sheriff’s Office had issued a Silver Alert on Wednesday after Mr. York was last seen around noon leaving his home near Durham, Oklahoma. He was reported missing after failing to return and was believed to be traveling alone.
Sheriff Atha praised the community for their support during the search:
“The community showed up, worked together, and did not give up until he was found. It sure is good to be home working for the people and community I love.”
The Sheriff’s Office thanks all the volunteers, agencies, and citizens who assisted in the search and helped bring Mr. York home safely.
