Custer County, OK – A Texas man is facing felony charges in Oklahoma after allegedly driving under the influence with a minor in the vehicle.
According to a probable cause affidavit, 43-year-old Rodrigo Benjamin Arras of Socorro, Texas, was arrested on July 18 near mile marker 65 on I-40 westbound in Custer County. A trooper with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to assist another trooper who had pulled over a silver Ford pickup traveling 86 mph in a posted 70 mph zone.
The arrest affidavit states Arras was reluctant to pull over and showed signs of intoxication. Troopers reported smelling alcohol and observed that he had bloodshot, watery eyes. Arras refused both field sobriety tests and a preliminary breath test. During a search of the vehicle, officers found open containers of beer, a souvenir mug with alcohol residue, and multiple unopened beer cans in two ice chests.
A teenage boy was also in the truck. Troopers later learned he was Arras’s son.
Arras was taken to the Custer County Jail and booked for child endangerment by DUI and transporting an open container of alcohol.
He was formally charged with the child endangerment offense last week.
