Sayre, OK – Those interested in running for a seat on the Erick School Board of Education must file their Declaration of Candidacy with the Beckham County Election Board from Monday, July 29 through Wednesday, July 31, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Candidate filing packets are available on the State Election Board website at oklahoma.gov/elections or can be picked up at the County Election Board office at 306 E. Main St., Sayre, open Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In addition to the Declaration of Candidacy, all candidates must submit a Voter Registration Verification Form, which must match the declaration exactly. This form can be obtained from the Election Board or by logging into the OK Voter Portal at oklahoma.gov/elections/ovp.html.

Sherron Manning, Secretary of the Beckham County Election Board, reminds all candidates that Contests of Candidacy must be filed by Friday, August 1 at 5 p.m. Contests may only be filed by another candidate for the same office, unless the candidate is unopposed—in which case the contest must be submitted through the County Election Board.

If more than two candidates file for the same seat, a Special Election will be held Tuesday, September 9. A candidate must receive over 50% of the vote to win outright. If only one candidate files, they will automatically receive the appointment.

The filing period for Clinton City Council’s Ward 1 and Ward 3 seats also runs Monday through Wednesday.
