Elk City, OK – Michael Antonio Moreno, the 30-year-old who fled custody from the Beckham County Sheriff’s Office last week, has been apprehended.
According to a Wednesday night Facebook post from the Elk City Police Department, Moreno was captured following a traffic stop. An Elk City officer noticed suspicious behavior, and with backup, the officers successfully took Moreno into custody.
Moreno initially escaped after learning his bail had been revoked. Sheriff Derek Manning said Moreno was in the front lobby with a bondsman when he suddenly turned and ran out of the building. Deputies lost sight of him as he fled toward the courthouse and disappeared north of the county annex.
The incident drew a multi-day search involving multiple law enforcement agencies. Thanks to quick observation and teamwork by local officers, Moreno is once again behind bars.
Charges for Moreno are pending.
