Elk City, OK – Elk City’s ongoing Main Street improvement project is reaching a new phase. On May 21st and 22nd (weather permitting), construction crews will shift work to the west side of Main Street.

During this phase, Main Street between 5th and 3rd Streets will be open to northbound traffic only. Southbound traffic will be detoured via South Madison to 5th, then south back onto Main.

Good news for downtown visitors—parking will remain available on the east side of Main from 5th to 3rd, right in front of businesses.

This multi-million dollar investment will overhaul Main Street from 3rd to 7th Streets. While the total project cost is $11.5 million, Elk City taxpayers will only be responsible for $1.7 million, thanks to state and federal support.

City officials thank residents and business owners for their patience and remind everyone to drive carefully through construction zones.
