Oklahoma House Republicans this week selected their leadership team for the 60th Legislature, with Rep. Nick Archer, R-Elk City, stepping into a prominent role as Caucus Vice Chair. The 81-member Republican majority maintains its supermajority in the House, positioning the caucus to advance its conservative agenda.
The newly elected caucus leadership includes:
• Caucus Chair: Rep. Stan May, R-Broken Arrow
• Caucus Vice Chair: Rep. Nick Archer, R-Elk City
• Caucus Secretary: Rep. Josh Cantrell, R-Kingston
Rep. Archer expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by his colleagues, saying, “I am grateful to have the opportunity to serve the House Republican Caucus, my district, and the people of Oklahoma. I look forward to working with my colleagues toward a shared vision and dedication to the conservative principles Oklahomans value.”
A second-term legislator, Archer has quickly established himself as a leader within the Republican caucus. During his first term, he served as vice chair of the House General Government Committee. Before joining the Legislature, Archer served two terms as mayor of Elk City, demonstrating a strong record of public service and community leadership.
Outgoing Vice Chair Rep. Danny Williams, R-Seminole, praised Archer as a capable successor.
Rep. May, re-elected as Caucus Chair, highlighted the significance of the upcoming legislative session, stating, “I look forward to working with our new legislative leaders on pressing issues such as economic development, educational improvements, and public safety.”
May begins his second term as Caucus Chair and fourth term in office, while Cantrell, another second-term legislator, will serve as Caucus Secretary. Cantrell previously served as Marshall County Commissioner and vice chair of the County and Municipal Government Committee.
The new leadership team reflects a shared commitment to advancing conservative values and addressing critical issues facing Oklahoma. Representatives were officially sworn in on Nov. 20, with a full House vote on Speaker and Speaker Pro Tempore scheduled for Organizational Day, Jan. 7, 2025. The 60th Legislature will convene its first session on Feb. 3.
