A Clinton woman has been charged with multiple felonies following a series of violent incidents on October 5th, 2024. Angelique Nicole McLendon, 42, faces four charges: first-degree robbery, attempted robbery, and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

According to the police report, McLendon entered the Family Dollar store in Clinton armed with a large kitchen knife. She allegedly threatened an employee and demanded $400 in cash from the register. When the employed hesitated, McLendon reportedly pointed the knife at him and shouted for him to comply. The robbery was captured on store surveillance footage, which also showed McLendon using the knife to push the employee aside after he opened the register.

Following the incident, McLendon attempted another robbery at a nearby location, where she allegedly tried to steal a woman’s car keys at knifepoint but was unsuccessful. The woman managed to fend off McLendon long enough to escape.

The police responded to both scenes and identified McLendon from eyewitness statements and surveillance footage. After a brief pursuit, officers located her in an alley near 9th Street and Frisco Ave. An Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper deployed a bean bag round to subdue McLendon, who had refused commands to drop her weapon. She was arrested and transported to the local police department.

McLendon remains in custody and faces significant prison time if convicted on all charges. The robbery charge alone carries a sentence of 10 years to life in prison.
