Fatal Collision on OK-152 South of Elk City Claims Life

A tragic collision occurred last night on Oklahoma Highway 152, about 8.7 miles south of Elk City, resulting in one fatality. The accident, which happened around 8:57 PM, involved two vehicles and remains under investigation.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle accident involved a 2015 Toyota Sienna driven by 31-year-old Jia Li of Monterey Park, California, and a 2009 Peterbilt truck driven by 49-year-old Roberto Rubalcaba of Garden City, Kansas.

OHP reported that as a result, a passenger in the Toyota Sienna, 61-year-old Bailing Sun of Santa Ana, California, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Elk City EMS.

Three other passengers’ identities and conditions are still under investigation.

The driver, Li, was transported to Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City, where he was treated and released. His condition at the time of the accident is still under investigation.

The driver of the Peterbilt, Rubalcaba, was unharmed in the incident.

Oklahoma City, OK – Elk City native Sadiaa Jones was recently hired as the new Oklahoma City University Athletics Director. The 1995 Elk City High School graduate has been Executive Athletic Director for Dallas College since 2021.
